A continuation of one of the stories of the settlement of the American West. It follows the further adventures of characters first introduced in Horizon: An American Saga. The film was originally released on August 16, 2024. However, after the commercial failure of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 (2024), New Line Cinema removed the sequel from its original release date and postponed it indefinitely. Chapter 2 premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on September 7, 2024, in theaters unconfirmed. As stated in the first chapter, Costner once again pays homage to the tradition of American cinema, updating it with a modern but respectful vision. The vast landscapes once again take center stage, reflecting the immensity and rawness of the Wild West and giving the narrative an epic scope. In the second chapter of “Horizon: An American Saga”, Kevin Costner continues to amaze with his directorial skills. , which, compared to the first part, immerses the viewer in an increasingly organic interweaving of stories. While in the previous chapter the narratives were clearly separated, highlighted by the skillful use of warm and cold tones to underline their separation, in this second part we witness a progressive convergence of the plots and their characters. The mixing of colors symbolizes the gradual confluence of the plots, while the plot slowly reveals what is really hidden behind this “Horizon”, the name that appears evocatively on the posters, increasing the audience’s curiosity. Costner takes the viewer on an emotional journey, not only conveying the characters’ experience. the trials, but also their profound humanity, so much so that the audience itself shares its emotions and feelings. The more pronounced combination of drama and comedy in this chapter does not take away from the weight of the story. On the contrary, it adds a lightness that is well suited to the challenges and difficult decisions of the journey west, all while remaining faithful to the essence of the narrative, maintaining the thread of the difficulties and monumental choices faced by the pioneers. This second chapter acts as a sort of bridge between the initial phases. delving into the stories and significant events that await us in the third, this is indicated by the suggestive final clips, as it happened at the end of the first part. Once again the actor-director leaves us in trepidation, promising miracles and surprises in the next act. I cannot help but repeat my praise for the masterful soundtrack composed by John Debney, whose musical notes skillfully intertwined with the images provide a unique experience. a sensory experience that transports the audience to another era. I conclude these reflections by repeating myself, saying that "Horizon – An American Saga" its name is destined to remain engraved in the pantheon of timeless cinematic masterpieces – and perhaps it already has been – that will be talked about in the years to come.
